Happy Hearts Day!!
I post here a good article from The Guardian. My friend and colleague Dr Rachel Feldman passed this along to me and I pass it along to you. It talks someone through a fleeting fantasy he begins to make real, by obsessing about it. This distracts him and compels him all at the same time, to risk sabotaging his marriage for a fantasy of future fulfillment. I liked how the columnist here has him imagine his way through from beginning to end. For those of you NOT in a marriage right now, you can still benefit. You can let yourself imagine NOT taking risks, NOT sticking your neck out of your comfort zone to meet somebody new, and what that might look and feel like down the road if you don’t. You might want to study the concept of deliberate practice, which is pushing yourself repeatedly out of your comfort zone, to encourage you to keep pushing yourself to try new things, including new people. Happy Valentines’ Day!
