HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025

January 3, 2025

Happy New Year!!Happy New Year-what an expression, right?  Don't you love how happy people sound when they say that??  I think it's the tone more than the words. I think we could say all sorts of combinations of words that make no sense that would sound the same, if we used the same tone.  Like making or breaking? Or say goodnight. Maybe go to school. It's the three syllables, said in an affectionate upbeat tone, that touches me. I walk through a door at the grocery: happy new year! I see a man on the street on New Years Day. Happy New Year. I guess Merry Christmas can go in there too, Happy Holidays, and so on. What is fun is the sense that we are all in on the idea, we all say the same thing, and it brings a feeling of belonging for me, at least. I like being included with the Merry Christmas's or the Happy New Years even if I am not feeling particularly Merry or Happy, about Christmas, or New Years. I AM happy that the person across from me seems so happy, and cheerily offers me a greeting. I like that part of the holidays so much..
